The Lincoln High Links fell victim to the Millard South Patriots''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Patriots 65-0. While losing is never fun, Lincoln High can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Millard South is ranked second).
Millard South's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jett Thomalla, who threw for 221 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Ean Langer, who rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Lincoln High's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 2.0 points per game. As for Millard South, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
Lincoln High does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Millard South will play host again and welcome Lincoln North Star, where Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
