St. Mary had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 11-16 to make it five. They lost 13-5 to the Saguaro Sabercats. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 16-6 to the Sabercats when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Kimber Milstead and Meredith Schager did some serious damage despite the final result: Milstead got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Schager went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
As for Saguaro, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-15. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.
On Saguaro's side, Malina Morones was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Morones has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Sophia Chouinard was incredible, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alyson Stroud, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
While St. Mary's had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
