Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Caroline to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zymear Smith, who gained 108 total yards and a touchdown. Nasai Bell got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Wicomico to a paltry 186 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to North Caroline's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Owen Piavis was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Meanwhile, Kent Island was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Parkside 46-7 at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Kent Island.
Shane Bogardus continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 135 yards and four touchdowns. Bogardus is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. Austin Holland was another major influence, as he rushed for 26 yards and ran in a TD.
North Caroline pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Easton and 2-8 Wicomico (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34% over those games). As for Kent Island, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
North Caroline beat Kent Island 21-14 in their previous matchup back in October.
