Wake Forest is 8-2 against Millbrook since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Cougars will venture away from home to take on the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. Millbrook took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Wake Forest, who comes in off a win.
Wake Forest will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs last Monday, then bounced right back against Willow Spring last Tuesday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Storm.
Ava Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Bowers, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbey Lauer, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Wake Forest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Willow Spring only managed ten.
Meanwhile, Millbrook fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Rolesville on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 9-8.
Lillyanne Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Avery Edwards also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
The victory got Wake Forest back to even at 1-1. As for Millbrook, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Everything went Wake Forest's way against Millbrook in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Wake Forest made off with an 11-1 win. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
