Alhambra extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 9-6. Everything went their way against the Glendale Nitros as they made off with a 13-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Alexis Garcia made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Amari Antunez and Aerin Crespo did most of the damage at the plate: Antunez went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Crespo went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Crespo a new career-high. Alyssa Salazar was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Alhambra always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
As for Glendale, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Glendale's side, Rachel Francis made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one triple. Another player making a difference was Brooke Aldrete, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Coming up, Alhambra will host Bell Gardens at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Glendale, they are taking a road trip to take on Crescenta Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
