The Lovejoy Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Woodward Academy War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Lovejoy has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while the War Eagles will arrive with six straight victories.
Last Tuesday, Lovejoy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-45 to the Tigers.
Meanwhile, Woodward Academy put the finishing touches on their 14th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 73-22 victory over Alcovy on the road. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Woodward Academy just coasted through the last quarter.
Kameron Herring was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Clarke Falconer was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Lovejoy has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Woodward Academy, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-5.
Lovejoy was dealt a bruising 91-8 loss at the hands of the War Eagles in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lovejoy was down 45-6.
