The St. Catherine's Saints will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Brunswick Academy Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Brunswick Academy will be up against a hot St. Catherine's team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. St. Catherine's was the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over Hanover on Friday.

Jenna Keefer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kinnady Branch, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Keira Frazier was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Branch wasn't the only one working in the home run department: St. Catherine's lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Brunswick Academy faced Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Brunswick Academy put the hurt on Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association with a sharp 10-2 win. Ten seems to be a good number for the Vikings as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Lexi Vaughan Howerton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Griffin, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
The win (which was Brunswick Academy's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for St. Catherine's, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Both St. Catherine's and Brunswick Academy just can't seem to miss. St. Catherine's has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Brunswick Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
