Primero had to kick off their season with an away game, and unfortunately wound up with a long bus ride home. They were completely outmatched, falling 0-58 to Mountain Valley. If Primero were hoping to take revenge for the 0-67 loss against Mountain Valley the last time the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Junior Elijah Roberts, who rushed for 143 yards and 3 touchdowns, was a major factor in the success. In fact, with 9 tackles Roberts was a force on both sides of the ball. Sophomore Salvador Vigil was in the mix, too, providing Mountain Valley with 4 touchdowns. This was the first contest for both squads, starting Primero off on the wrong foot at 0-1, while giving Mountain Valley a 1-0 record.
Primero have some extra time to regroup and restrategize before their next game, which is against Sierra Grande at 7:00 PM in two weeks. Mountain Valley hope to keep the momentum going despite some extra time before their next game against Cotopaxi at 1:00 PM in two weeks.
