The Notre Dame Academy Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Bishop Foley Ventures at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Notre Dame Academy has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Tuesday, Notre Dame Academy came out on top against University Liggett by a score of 6-5 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).
Notre Dame Academy let Lily Phillips and Payton Shively run wild. Phillips went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple, while Shively went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Hannah Schultz, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bishop Foley, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They blew past Richard 14-0 on Tuesday.
Sasha Walker made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Bishop Foley got a massive performance out of Abbey Jones, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Zemma Kenny also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Bishop Foley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Notre Dame Academy's record is now 9-10. As for Bishop Foley, their record now sits at 3-4.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Notre Dame Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .397. However, it's not like Bishop Foley struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
