Baseball Recap: Routt Catholic Wins Going Away Against West Central Co-Op [Winchester-Bluffs]

Routt Catholic barely beat West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rockets were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Cougars on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Brock Runyon tossed a big game, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Jacob Brown and Eli Olson did most of the damage at the plate: Brown went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Olson went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Routt Catholic is undefeated when Olson posts two or more runs, but 8-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Talon Thompson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

The win made it two in a row for Routt Catholic and bumps their season record up to 17-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs], their loss dropped their record down to 18-5.
