Christ the King has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Langtree Charter Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Christ the King focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
Last Friday, Christ the King ended up a good deal behind Lincoln Charter and lost 53-38. While losing is never fun, Christ the King can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 347th, while Lincoln Charter is ranked 114th).
Parker Ryan put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 18 points along with two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last 11 games he's played. Drew Reimels was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Langtree Charter's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 16th straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 82-48 loss at the hands of Community School of Davidson. Langtree Charter was down 67-37 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Christ the King has not been sharp recently as the team has lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Langtree Charter, their loss was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-24.
Everything went Christ the King's way against Langtree Charter when the teams last played back in January as Christ the King made off with a 74-52 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Langtree Charter's Anthony Nesbit, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
