This season hasn't been kind to the Whitmire Wolverines, who are still winless after their 13th game. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 53-29 walloping at the hands of Dixie on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Whitmire has suffered since December 11, 2023.
Brooklynn Babb and Raylin Vicars certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Babb scored 13 points along with two steals, while Vicars scored eight points along with three steals. Babb continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Whitmire struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Dixie posted ten assists.
Jaylia Turner continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dixie, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 14 steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Turner has scored at least a third of Dixie's points. Another player making a difference was Kerri O'Shields, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and six steals.
Whitmire's defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-13. As for Dixie, their victory ended a 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-8.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind the next time they take the court. Dixie will head out to face South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Whitmire will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
