This season hasn't been kind to the Woodson Warriors, who are still winless after their seventh matchup. They took a serious blow against Eastern on Monday, falling 40-11. Woodson was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Eastern apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eastern to victory, but perhaps none more so than Samia Greene, who scored 14 points along with four steals and two blocks. Greene is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jayme Poindexter, who scored nine points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Woodson's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.0 points per game. As for Eastern, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodson will take on McKinley Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Eastern, they will play host again and welcome Bell, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bell comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
