The Mountain View Mavericks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 63-44 bruising from Middleton. While losing is never fun, Mountain View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Middleton is ranked 31st).
Middleton found their leader in underclassman Zoey Blackwell, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Blackwell's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elsie Wyatt, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Mountain View's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-10. As for Middleton, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Mountain View will be home for the holidays to greet Timberline at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Middleton and Hillcrest will round out the year against one another at 4:45 p.m. on December 28th at.
