It was a good run, but the Ardsley Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 53-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tappan Zee. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ardsley has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Ardsley still got an impressive performance from Iva Corluka, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. Corluka hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Leah Burriss, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Ardsley's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2. As for Tappan Zee, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ardsley will take on Pelham Memorial at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pelham Memorial will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 159th, while Ardsley is ranked 49th). As for Tappan Zee, they will be playing at home against Nyack at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
