Basketball Recap: Breona Kirtz's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Seven Lakes over Tompkins

Seven Lakes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Tompkins Falcons, falling 82-56. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Seven Lakes lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Breona Kirtz, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 18 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Kirtz a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Willtrace Ngoh, who posted eight points in addition to ten boards and four blocks.

Even though they lost, Seven Lakes smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

Seven Lakes' defeat dropped their record down to 5-19. As for Tompkins, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Seven Lakes will look to defend their home court on December 28th against Cypress Springs at 12:00 p.m. One thing working in Cypress Springs' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches. As for Tompkins, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-61 loss against Chaparral on the 27th.
