The Chilton County Tigers had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They blew past Wetumpka 63-42. Given Chilton County's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Wetumpka is ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Iasia Anderson was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 20 points, ten assists, and 11 steals. Anderson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ishunti Brown, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Chilton County is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Wetumpka, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chilton County will take on Pike Road at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pike Road is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Wetumpka, they will be playing at home against Prattville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Prattville and Wetumpka are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
