The Paradise Valley Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Canyon View Jaguars at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Paradise Valley is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
While Paradise Valley's win against Forge Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Paradise Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Forge Christian on Wednesday, sneaking past 4-3. Four seems to be a good number for the Trojans as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Drew England looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Paradise Valley's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nick deChaud, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Canyon View entered their tilt with North Canyon on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. Everything went their way against the Rattlers as they made off with a 16-1 victory. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Carter Radwanski looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
At the plate, Ethan Santoyo and Brock Berlan did most of the damage at the plate: Santoyo scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Berlan went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Rolando Valles, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Canyon View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Paradise Valley now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Canyon View, their record is now 8-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Paradise Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Canyon View struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Paradise Valley suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Canyon View in their previous matchup on Monday. Can Paradise Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
