3A District 8 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Spiro extended the longest winning streak in 3A District 8 this week by beating Valliant, 42-13. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Stigler took down Heavener 54-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Cade Shearwood threw for 314 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 91 yards in the win.
Colton Shearwood was the best wideout in the league this week as the Panthers beat the Wolves. Shearwood racked up five receptions for 154 yards. Christian Keith helped Stigler's passing attack out by catching four balls for 103 yards.
Blake Smittle was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 220 yards on 30 carries as Heavener topped Heavener. Dillan Stallings also contributed to the rushing game with 43 yards on the ground.
6-foot-2 quarterback Brooks Robertson of Roland is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1556. He has also thrown 25 touchdowns. On the ground, Carl Lee's team's Smittle has rushed for 1947 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Shearwood. The Stigler star has 32 catches for 517 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Rangers take on Spiro. At the moment, Roland is in second, while Chris Bunch's team is in fourth.
Chris Risenhoover's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,153 from 4,331. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 54-7 victory over the Wolves last week.
