Pittsfield and Hampshire Regional are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Generals will welcome the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Pittsfield is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 4, 2024 on Monday. They lost 13-2 to Westfield. The loss continues a trend for the Generals in their meetings with the Bombers: they've now lost eight in a row.
Ava McMahon spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and ten unearned) runs on 11 hits.
On the hitting side, Pittsfield saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Dejesus, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Hampshire Regional put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Greenfield a 4-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Raiders have won by exactly four runs.
Not much got past Ryanne Dubay1, who gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Greenfield off the board. Dubay1 has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Caelyn Thayor was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Lucy Trombley also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Hampshire Regional's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Pittsfield, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Pittsfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Hampshire Regional in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 6-2. Do the Generals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
