The Pine Prairie Panthers will challenge the Anacoco Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Pine Prairie's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Anacoco's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Pine Prairie made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Buckeye, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Pine Prairie was the clear victor by a 12-3 margin over Buckeye on Thursday. Considering Pine Prairie has won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kynnedi Ware made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.
In other batting news, Pine Prairie got a massive performance out of Sydney Fontenot, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Fontenot has posted since back in March of 2024. Josie Vidrine was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple.
Pine Prairie hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Anacoco unfortunately witnessed the end of their 14-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Grace Christian by a score of 3-1. The Indians were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matchups prior), but the Warriors' pitcher proved too tough.
Oni Duran was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
Pine Prairie pushed their record up to 25-3 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Anacoco, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Pine Prairie hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Anacoco struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Pine Prairie came out on top in a nail-biter against Anacoco in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
