Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Clarksburg

Clarksburg had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt West Carroll on Thursday. The Rockets were the clear victors by a 21-5 margin over the War Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won three games by 13 runs or more so far this season.

Addison Milam was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Laws, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Natalie Scott, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Clarksburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .617. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win was the third in a row for Clarksburg, bringing their record up to 4-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for West Carroll, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clarksburg will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on McEwen at 5:00 p.m. on the 30th. As for West Carroll, they will host Middleton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
