Make it seven blowout wins for the Cotopaxi Pirates this season. They took their game on the road on Saturday with ease, bagging a 39-5 victory over Custer County. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Cotopaxi has posted since December 8, 2023.
It was another big night for Eden Merrill, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Merrill is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Eggleston, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Cotopaxi has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Custer County, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cotopaxi will take on South Park at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (South Park is ranked 189th, while Cotopaxi is ranked 195th). As for Custer County, they will head out on the road to face off against Centennial at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Centennial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Friday.
