The Houston Wildcats will face off against the Sidney Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Houston is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Lehman Catholic a 9-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won three in a row.
Houston let Madison Plunkett and Isabella Shultz run wild. Plunkett went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Shultz went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits Shultz has posted since back in May of 2025. Lauryn Crim was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Sidney made sure to put some runs up on the board against Middletown on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets blew past the Middies 21-3.
Riley Dillon made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Dillon was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, Jaida Fisher was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Eliana Fink, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Everything went Houston's way against Sidney in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, as Houston made off with a 19-9 victory. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
