The Southeast Spartans''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 56-7 loss at the hands of Shawnee. Southeast was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Shawnee apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Shawnee's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Deetrick Beavers, who rushed for 118 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Toby Gray did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 87 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Southeast's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Carl Albert and 6-3 Bishop McGuinness (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63.9% over those games). As for Shawnee, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
Southeast will be playing in front of their home fans against Eisenhower at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shawnee, they will head out on the road to face off against Guthrie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Guthrie presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Shawnee in Oklahoma (Guthrie is ranked sixth, while Shawnee is ranked 129th).
