The Payson Longhorns lost against the Snowflake Lobos back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Payson fell 54-44 to Snowflake. Payson has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Payson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mikey Schinstock. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with seven steals. Schinstock is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Anderson Hatch was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Payson bumped their record down to 7-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Snowflake, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Payson's road trip will continue as they head out to face Globe at 7:00 p.m. on January 15th. As for Snowflake, they will face off against Window Rock at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Window Rock will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 317th, while Snowflake is ranked 137th).
