The New Prairie Cougars put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by South Bend Clay on the road to the tune of 57-28. Considering New Prairie has won four contests by more than 20 points this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
New Prairie was led to victory by Jolie Johns and Jayden Flagg. Johns scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals, while Flagg scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Johns has scored at least 25% of New Prairie's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan White, who scored 9 points along with 5 assists.
Despite the loss, South Bend Clay still got an impressive performance from Maliya Freeman, who scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. Freeman scored a full 39.3% of South Bend Clay's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
New Prairie pushed their record up to 8-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for South Bend Clay, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
New Prairie will be playing at home against Mishawaka Marian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mishawaka Marian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for South Bend Clay, they will head out on the road to face off against La Porte at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. La Porte comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
