Basketball Recap: Sound Christian Piles Up the Points Against Evergreen Lutheran

Sound Christian put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Evergreen Lutheran Eagles 59-32. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-9.

Leading Sound Christian to victory were Abby Mesler and Kaila Brogan. Mesler went 11 for 24 on her way to 27 points in addition to seven boards and five steals, while Brogan went 9 of 20 on her way to 23 points and six rebounds. Mesler's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katherine Tkach, who posted six points.

Sound Christian's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.5 points per game. As for Evergreen Lutheran, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sound Christian will welcome North Beach at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Evergreen Lutheran, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Cedar Park Christian at 1:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Evergreen Lutheran's defense has only allowed 26.8 points per game this season, so Cedar Park Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them.
