The Briarfield Academy Rebels will face off against the Tallulah Academy Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Briarfield Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: Union Christian Academy, who was ranked 16th at the time (Briarfield Academy was ranked fourth). The Rebels blew past the Lions 64-8 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won seven in a row.
Trecin Baker produced another solid effort rushing for 81 yards and one score, while also picking up 71 receiving yards and one TD. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 55 yards. Another player making a difference was Jack Woodall, who gained 114 total yards and two touchdowns.
Briarfield Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Baker led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Jackson Thornton got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, while Tallulah Academy put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Riverdale Academy. The Trojans took their game with ease, bagging a 58-0 win over the Rebels. That 58 point margin sets a new team best for the Trojans this season.
Briarfield Academy better focus on containing Shepard Morgan and Aiden Harris Harris as the pair were huge in Tallulah Academy's win. Morgan gained 99 total yards, while Harris Harris threw for 104 yards and three touchdowns.
Tallulah Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 248 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Tallulah Academy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Briarfield Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Everything went Briarfield Academy's way against Tallulah Academy in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as Briarfield Academy made off with a 38-14 win. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
