AAA Region 6 recap October 22, 2013
Blessed Trinity made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,187 from 1,472. The improvement was the result of a 49-13 victory over Towers last week.
The Titans led AAA Region 6 in scoring this week by notching 49 points on the Titans.
St. Pius X Catholic's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Joey Connors threw for 69 yards and Chris Wegener had 40 yards receiving. On the ground Dalton Wilson contributed 93 yards. Fred Dorsey helped St. Pius X Catholic's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 29 yards.
The Golden Lions' dynamic duo of Connors and Wegener proved tough for Cedar Grove to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Dorsey helped St. Pius X Catholic's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 29 yards.
Woodward Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the War Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Terry Googer has thrown for 517 yards and 5 touchdowns this season, while Quincy Wolff has 17 catches for 191 yards. Googer also leads the league in rushing with 779 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place St. Pius X Catholic takes on second place Woodward Academy. Last week, St. Pius X Catholic beat the Saints, while Woodward Academy defeated McNair.
One of AAA Region 6's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when the War Eagles and Paul Standard's team face off next week.
