Softball Recap: Make It Nine in a Row for Glide

Glide waltzed into their game on Tuesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They never let the Coquille Red Devils get on the board and left with a 21-0 win. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Aryanna Belloir made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Glide got a massive performance out of Halle Goodman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. With that strong performance, Goodman is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game. Gracelynn Schartz was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Glide kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Glide's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Coquille, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Looking ahead, Glide will challenge Pleasant Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Coquille will be paying especially close attention to the Wildcats' matchup: after the Wildcats face off against the Billies, they'll take on Coquille again at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
