Francis Parker and the Torreys are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Francis Parker Lancers will be playing at home against the La Jolla Country Day Torreys at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Francis Parker comes in on four and the Torreys on seven.
Last Wednesday, Francis Parker didn't have too much trouble with the Knights at home as they won 61-45.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Francis Parker to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tavid Johnson, who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Johnson hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. Kai Jones was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, La Jolla Country Day scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Escondido Charter, posting a 84-39 victory on the road. Given La Jolla Country Day's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the White Tigers are ranked 680th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Francis Parker's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-10. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.3 points per game. As for La Jolla Country Day, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.
Francis Parker ended up a good deal behind the Torreys in their previous meeting back in January, losing 61-42. Will Francis Parker have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
