Basketball Recap: Cathedral's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Cathedral came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Liberty Christian Lions as they made off with an 88-62 win. The Fighting Irish have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Cathedral's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brady Koehler, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. Koehler is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Keaton Aldridge, who went 6-for-10 en route to 16 points along with six boards and five assists.

Cathedral smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Liberty Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kendrick Martin went 6-for-13 to rack up 15 points and five assists. That's the most assists Martin has posted since back in December of 2024. Christian Townsend was another key player, putting up ten points.

Cathedral pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.7 points over those games. As for Liberty Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cathedral will host East Chicago Central at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Cathedral's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matches. As for Liberty Christian, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
