Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Oakcrest

Oakcrest entered their tilt with Lower Cape May on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Chrystal Williams made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, Delaney Mason and Emilee Richards did most of the damage at the plate: Mason went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Richards went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Mason has posted since back in March. Samantha Gilbert also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Oakcrest's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Lower Cape May, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakcrest will welcome Clearview on Saturday. As for Lower Cape May, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pleasantville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
