Vinemont has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the West Point Warriors at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Vinemont took their match at home with ease, bagging a 68-32 victory over Brindlee Mountain. Given Vinemont's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Brindlee Mountain is ranked 281st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Vinemont's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reagan Robinson led the charge by scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The match was Robinson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Whitney Quick, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, West Point really took it to Lawrence County for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-30 victory at home. With West Point ahead 51-14 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Vinemont is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for West Point, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3.
Vinemont ended up a good deal behind West Point in their previous meeting back in January, losing 52-33. Can Vinemont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
