Willard is 0-10 against Carthage since September of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Willard Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Carthage Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Willard will be strutting in after a victory while Carthage will be coming in after a defeat.
Willard can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against Carl Junction by a score of 22-14.
Willard got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Russell Roweton out in front who threw for 98 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Carthage's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were outmatched by Joplin on the road and fell 49-21.
Willard's victory on Thursday bumped their record up to 4-4. As for Carthage, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-4.
Willard suffered a grim 41-21 defeat to Carthage when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Willard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
