Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Escondido Charter

Escondido Charter entered their tilt with Bishop on Thursday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Bishop's Knights with a sharp 9-2 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

Lilly Harper made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Escondido Charter got a massive performance out of Amber Rossback, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Hailey Gesino also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Escondido Charter hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive games.

Escondido Charter's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Bishop's, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Escondido Charter Tigers challenge Valley Center Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Bishop's will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Foothills Christian at 3:30 p.m. on April 7th.
