The Hatboro-Horsham Hatters's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Plymouth Whitemarsh on the road and fell 67-37. While losing is never fun, Hatboro-Horsham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 527th, while the Colonials are ranked 82nd).
Despite the loss, Hatboro-Horsham saw an underclassman step up: Kenny Lutz scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that Lutz pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Phillips, who scored five points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Hatboro-Horsham has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Plymouth Whitemarsh, they pushed their record up to 14-6 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hatboro-Horsham will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st. Springfield Township is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Plymouth Whitemarsh, they will head out on the road to challenge the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Upper Dublin is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
