Chanute Christian will head out on the road to square off against the Newton HomeSchool Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Chanute Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 66-26, which was the final score in Chanute Christian's tilt against Tyro Christian on Tuesday.
Newton HomeSchool has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They snuck past Non Varsity Opponent with a 55-49 win on Monday.
Jaquale Schumm continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 30 rebounds. Schumm is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Bungard, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Chanute Christian dropped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.8 points per game. As for Newton HomeSchool, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.
