After a string of six wins, The South Side Cyclones''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 21-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of Plainedge. South Side has struggled against Plainedge recently, as their contest on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Plainedge found their leader in underclassman Dylan Fella, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Jack Rizzo made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
South Side's loss dropped their record down to 6-1. As for Plainedge, their win was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 5-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Side will take on Floral Park Memorial at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Floral Park Memorial will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 124th, while South Side is ranked 28th). As for Plainedge, they will head out on the road to face off against Lynbrook at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
