Hope Shumway made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Kaiya Moore and Bailey Altoff did most of the damage at the plate: Moore scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Altoff scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Altoff continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaie Davis, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4.
Grand County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .717. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Summit only posted an OBP of .263.
Grand County pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
