The Epiphany Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Epiphany will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 440th, while Pungo Christian Academy is ranked 111th).
Last Monday, Epiphany had to suffer through a rough 94-52 loss at the hands of Dixon. Epiphany has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Luis McElearney, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Lathan, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, Pungo Christian Academy had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.6 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They walked away with a 57-48 win over Arendell Parrott Academy.
Rocky Mount Academy's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Epiphany's loss dropped theirs to 2-5.
Epiphany came up short against Pungo Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2021, falling 45-37. Thankfully for Epiphany, Miller Lee (who scored 21 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
