The Lebanon Trail Trail Blazers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 57-32 walloping at the hands of Heritage. While losing is never fun, Lebanon Trail can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 985th, while Heritage is ranked 360th).
Leading Heritage to victory were Elyse Mercado and Jadyn Middleton. Mercado scored 11 points along with four steals, while Middleton scored 16 points along with five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Middleton has scored at least 25% of Heritage's points. Another player making a difference was Emilia Okojie, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Lebanon Trail's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-20. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.3 points per game. As for Heritage, their victory bumped their record up to 12-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lebanon Trail will take on Centennial at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Centennial has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 21. As for Heritage, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Walnut Grove at 5:45 p.m. on January 12th.
