Basketball Recap: Andrew Cooper's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pike Valley over Sylvan-Lucas

If Pike Valley was riding high fresh off their 47-25 takedown of Wakefield last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pike Valley Panthers took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs on Friday. The Panthers have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Pike Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Cooper, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Cooper has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Braxton Patterson was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.

Pike Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Sylvan-Lucas, their win bumped their record up to an identical 2-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Pike Valley and Peabody-Burns will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Sylvan-Lucas, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Solomon at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
