Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Stamford

Stamford lost to Cheshire back in April of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Black Knights walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Rams. Winning may never get old, but the Black Knights sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Noe Mercedes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mercedes was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

In other pitching news, Jack Gibson tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Avery Cromwell, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. He also brought in three RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Travis Fuchs, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Stamford now has a winning record of 3-2.

Coming up, Stamford will take on Weston at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Cheshire, they will be playing at home against Foran at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
