The South Harrison Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. The contest between South Harrison and Gilmer County wasn't particularly close, with South Harrison falling 58-39. South Harrison was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Gilmer County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Gilmer County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zachariah Wine led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolten Holbert, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
South Harrison dropped their record down to 2-11 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Gilmer County, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Harrison will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Braxton County at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. Braxton County is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Gilmer County, they will head out on the road to face off against Webster County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Webster County is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
