Essex won the last time they faced King & Queen Central, and Morgan Self did her part to make sure it happened again. The Essex Trojans enjoyed a cozy 41-27 win over the King & Queen Central Royal Tigers on Monday thanks in part to Self, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 23 boards. She has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 19 times she's played.

Makiryn Williams was another key player, putting up six points along with 14 boards and five blocks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 8.3 rebounds per game.

Aliviah Gibson and Janiya Brown certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Gibson posted eight points and five steals, while Brown scored 11 points and four steals. That was a full 40.7% of King & Queen Central's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Melanie Holmes also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Essex's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for King & Queen Central, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Essex has already played their next matchup, a 44-32 defeat against Colonial Beach on the 14th. As for King & Queen Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-41 win against Mathews on the 14th.
