Syracuse and Northridge are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. Syracuse is taking a road trip to square off against Northridge at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Syracuse's win against Woods Cross wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Syracuse came out on top in a nail-biter against Woods Cross two weeks ago, sneaking past 5-4. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Syracuse's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Burkon Beus, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Northridge got the win against Westlake on Tuesday by a conclusive 14-4. Considering the Knights have won four contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Jon Olsen, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Boston Wright was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Northridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Northridge has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. Syracuse's record now sits at 2-5.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Syracuse has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. However, it's not like Northridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .434. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Syracuse beat Northridge 7-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2021. Will Syracuse repeat their success, or does Northridge has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
