Fort Lauderdale proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 12) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cypress Bay Lightning, sneaking past 7-5. The Flying L's have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lightning, too.
Kylie Keenan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Quinn McFadden was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Taniyah Hicks, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
