After a string of five wins, the Grace Christian Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a hard 69-55 fall against Fishburne Military. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Grace Christian still got an impressive performance from Davis Reid, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Reid has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Cashion, who scored 11 points.
Fishburne Military's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Giovanni Belisle, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Belisle has scored at least a third of Fishburne Military's points. Devin Charles was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Grace Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Fishburne Military, their win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-12.
Grace Christian on the road again on Friday and play against Ridgeview Christian at 7:15 p.m. on January 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Ridgeview Christian is ranked 291st, while Grace Christian is ranked 271st). Fishburne Military won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Roanoke Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. Roanoke Catholic has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 29.
